Over a hundred magnificent voices from combined adult and children choirs, accompanied by the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra (FASO), the only Filipino symphony orchestra outside of the Philippines, singing your favorite Christmas songs. Your school hymn being played by a full symphonic orchestra. Guest vocalists evoking your fondest holiday memories: Joan Cano, soprano; Gina Ibarrola, a member of the WIN (Waraynon Initiative Network) Chorale; and Nayah Damasen, a 14-year-old “good luck charm” of the Golden State Warriors.
These and more musical treats are in store for you as FASO, under the baton of musical director and conductor Robert “Bob” Shroder, presents “A Christmas Concert” on Saturday, December 3, 6:00 p.m.at the John Wayne Performing Arts Center in Glendale, California.
The glorious voices harmonizing in cherished Yuletide carols will come from Immaculate Heart of Mary Adult Choir, Philippine Chamber Singers-Los Angeles, Prime Note Ensemble, St. Brendan Choir, St. Jane Frances de Chantal Choir, Academy of Visual and Performing Arts Youth Chorus of La Sierra University, Holy Family Children’s Concert Chorus, Immaculate Heart of Mary Children’s Choir and Precious Blood Children’s Choir.
These choirs will also perform the school hymns, arranged by Louie Ramos, FASO board vice president and arranger-in-residence. The audience members are encouraged to sing along – proudly and loudly – when they hear their alma mater hymns.
The orchestra, which has gained a reputation for presenting quality, entertaining concerts will also play the Christmas favorite, Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite.”
